Self-care is for me something I am focussing on this year. It’s important for us to make the time to do the things we love. In a world where Mental Health issues are becoming prevalent, it’s time to acknowledge that notions of battling on and always taking care of others is causing more harm than good.
We all have a feminine and masculine sides or what we call Yin & Yang. It may be that you are constantly in a Yang state (or masculine) and need to balance out by going inwards tuning into your yin or feminine side. This is why yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and any creative hobby-singing, writing, journalling are really good because it allows us to turn inwards rather than the always being in a doing or achieving state that can happen through our yang state. This is so common working in a busy city and where society tells us we should always be working towards something.
Yes being a Yoga Teacher I would stress the importance of kindness to others as being very important, however, it’s extremely important we give ourselves this kindness too. Just as the saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty cup.
